Another blogger asked me to write a recipe for homemade vanilla extract as I make my own. It’s so easy, and makes a sweet gift for another baker in your life.
6 vanilla beans
8 ounces of good quality vodka
A small glass air tight jar
A dark glass bottle
Split the vanilla beans and chop up into one inch pieces.
Put them into the glass jar and pour over the vodka. Seal jar and shake.
Place the jar in a dark place for minimum of one month. I leave mine for about four to six. Decant the extract into the dark glass bottle.
You can also dry the pods that were in the vodka and put them into sugar to make vanilla sugar.
